We’re excited to share some big news: Scriptive has been named a finalist for the 2025 Wisconsin Innovation Awards! Out of hundreds of nominations from across industries like healthcare, manufacturing, and software, our company was chosen as one of just 27 finalists. For a small EdTech startup in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, this recognition means a lot — not just for us, but for every child and family who believes in the power of storytelling.
The Wisconsin Innovation Awards are designed to highlight ideas that are changing lives and industries. We’re honored that our platform, WriteStories, is being celebrated as one of those ideas.
Why WriteStories Stood Out
The heart of WriteStories is simple but powerful: children write their own stories, guided by picture books with the text removed. Page by page, they type their own words to match the illustrations. This scaffolding makes writing approachable and fun while giving kids a sense of ownership over their work.
In a world where writing proficiency is declining — with nearly 75% of American students not meeting writing standards by graduation — tools like WriteStories aren’t just helpful; they’re essential. By turning writing into a joyful process, we’re addressing a crisis in literacy with creativity and imagination.
Innovation with Purpose
Being named a finalist isn’t just about technology or a patent-pending process. It’s about purpose. Scriptive’s mission has always been to help children find their voice and build skills that will serve them for life. Recognition like this validates that we’re on the right track.
We’ll celebrate with fellow finalists on November 4th at the Monona Terrace in Madison, but in many ways, the real celebration happens each time a child proudly shares the story they created with WriteStories.
Looking Ahead
This recognition energizes us as we continue expanding WriteStories, preparing new features, and making the platform available to more families and classrooms. We believe every child deserves the chance to see themselves as a storyteller.
To our supporters, teachers, parents, and kids: thank you. This award is really about you — your creativity, your persistence, and your belief that literacy can be fun.
